Guidance
Working Together
Hi! My name is Mrs. Laura Duca, and I am very excited to be the counselor at School #4. I am honored to meet and work with all of your children here in Winslow Township. I will be providing the children with a standards-based guidance and counseling program that supports them in meeting their full academic, personal/social and career developmental potential. I hope to be able to provide counseling and guidance services to every student, whether it is through classroom guidance lessons, individual counseling or group counseling. My goal is to provide them with the proper tools so that they may continue their success once leaving these walls.
Personally, I graduated from Rowan University with both my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (2005) and my Master of Arts in Counseling in Educational Settings (2010). I have three children, two sons and a daughter. I am very passionate about the fields of education and counseling, and like to be very involved in what is going on in both the school and surrounding community.
Elementary Counselors
“Today’s young people are living in an exciting time, with an increasingly diverse society, new technologies and expanding opportunities. To help ensure that they are prepared to become the next generation of parents, workers, leaders and citizens, every student needs support, guidance and opportunities during childhood, a time of rapid growth and change. Children face unique and diverse challenges, both personally and developmentally, that have an impact on academic achievement.”
“Toward a Blueprint for Youth: Making Positive Youth Development a National Priority,” U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
The American School Counselors Association (ASCA) reminds us that the elementary years are a time when students begin to develop their academic self-concept and their feelings of competence and confidence as learners. They are beginning to develop decision-making, communication and life skills, as well as character values. It is also a time when students develop and acquire attitudes toward school, self, peers, social groups and family. Comprehensive developmental school counseling programs provide education, prevention and intervention services, which are integrated into all aspects of children’s lives. Essentially, all of the skills your children will learn at this level will become the foundation of their future successes.
